The workshop was based on a whole year school experience at the Liceo Scientifico ‘E.Vittorini’-Lentini. Three cross-curricular hypertexts had been produced and were shown 1. Plato & Aristotle Interactive (class 3F) 2. The Talking Stones (class 2S) 3. The first- Mastro don Gesualdo (class 4L).
The main idea was to use English as a vehicular language to teach Philosophy, Local History and Italian Literature in order to produce creative web pages, interactive exercises and some mind mapping.
During the workshop some of the interactive activities included in the Cdrom were practiced. We also had opportunities to share some planning ideas to devise similar cross-curricular modules.

Plato & Aristotle Interactive is a Cdrom in which Philosophy, English and the creative use of new technologies contribute to provide interaction through images, music, drama and text analysis. The role of English has been fundamental first, to consolidate what has been learned through computerized mind mapping and then, to provide material for a performance taken from ‘Gorgia' by Plato.

The Talking Stones is a museum-school project work based on local history and included in the POF.

It is about the proto historic village of Xouthia, the Greek town of Leontinoi, fatherland of Gorgia, and the ruins of the Castrum Vetus, a medieval  Castle. The hypertext is a virtual walking tour through the ages to ‘listen' to the talking stones and tell the stories of archaeological finds.

The first- Mastro don Gesualdo.

Students started a comparative analysis of Verga's short novel ‘la Roba' and ‘Property' translated by D.H. Lawrence in his ‘Short Novels of Sicily'. The register and the special terms acted as a guide to ‘experience' a sort of culturally mediated translation, which was, then, transformed into a hypertext by matching places and quotations.
